Artificial Design: Creation Versus Machine Learning
Appeared for the general public with the launch of entertainment and creation-oriented services such as DALL E (January 2021), Midjourney (July 2022) or ChatGPT (November 2022) , machine learning technologies make it possible to generate, from textual requests (prompts), digital objects such as texts, images, sounds, videos, 3D, etc. Although these productions often only imitate existing data and lack diversity, media debates tend to focus on the replacement of humans by the machine. In doing so, they screen the essential question: what is the spectrum of current and potential implications of machine learning for design practices?
